With all the rain we've had the fields are beginning to flood near the river, that magical point in which the land and the water become mixed, tussocks of grass suddenly become islands and the land reflects the sky.

Lakes, when they're still and the light is low like this, you can see why in the past they were seen as gateways to other worlds, where monsters might lurk and swords or other valuables deposited to keep the gods happy

I find that I'm more and more in the mindset of thinking about the dark forests of our pagan germanic ancestors as time moves on, the forest as less somewhere you 'bathe' and more somewhere in which things might happen..

I went off the track, quite literally, im my favourite piece of woodland today, and found fallen trees completely covered in moss.

The disused church at Greater Haubois in Norfolk, this is the only bit which still has a roof and is occasionally used as part of funeral services as there are recent burials.

When I saw this piece of dead wood it looked almost skeletal, like bleached bones, and in monochrome would look even more gothic and mysterious. I'm very drawn to the forms of gnarled, dead of old wood at the moment.

This is next to a path I literally must use once a week, but somehow I'd not appreciated it before

I did do a bit of gardening around this, removing some brambles and such like which were in front of it, which I think was worthwhile having done.

When it's quiet you can easily belive this is some remote woodland, when it fact it's about 10m off a fairly main road!

Out for a walk this morning and saw this orange poppy flowering in front of the brown fence, couldn't have been a better combination if it had been done on purpose!

We were lucky enough to have a private tour of somebody's garden yesterday - this stunning Liquidamber was one of the highlights

Photogram, done very casually because I had an offcut of photo paper from something else, and decided to stick it on a windowsill with some objects on it to see what would happen

There's just something about dead wood - especially when it's been dead long enough to get that great bleached look to it.

Out for a walk and couldn't resist this combination of the semi-abandoned armchair and the traffic cone. Taken with an iPhone X using the procamera app and post processed with Affinity Photo
