In a new pub, we examined subgroup differences in Asian American children, particularly 1) the diversity of math achievement and 2) what factors predict this diversity. Ultimately, we wanted to see whether the factors predicting math achievement is the same across subgroups.

Proud to say I encouraged @damcotto.bsky.social to post this.
Orange theory class playlist today included: UGK, Sean Paul, Jay-Z (pre Black album) and Andre 3000. Between this and new age “weapons of mass destruction” it feels like high school all over again.

The 'revelation' here is a bizarre NYT hit piece on a researcher who said she wanted to make sure her findings were accurate before publishing them.
Justice Thomas, concurring, casts doubt on medical standards: "Recent revelations suggest that WPATH, long considered a standard bearer in treating pediatric gender dysphoria... bases its guidance on insufficient evidence and allows politics to influence its medical conclusions."

This is a deeply problematic decision by Wiley!
This decision is not only PCI-hostile. It has far-reaching preprint-hostile consequences.
I hope this is all based on a big misunderstanding that Wiley will soon be able to resolve. Wiley should rapidly rectify its highly problematic decision.

If you teach cognitive psychology or related topics & are willing to share your favorite teaching resources (e.g., demos, videos), please reply to/quote this post, tag me in a new post, or send me email. I'll compile them, share the list, & keep updating it this summer. Let's inspire each other!
I teach an undergrad cognitive psychology class. I've been thinking about assembling useful teaching resources (demos, videos, etc.) from other cogpsy instructors & sharing them in a single place. If there's enough interest here, I'll make a separate post & ask you to share your favorite materials.

I will not stand for this cake slander but I know that we can ALL agree that cupcakes are an abomination and should be wiped off the face of the earth.

Cake is terrible. All pies are superior to cake. And the best pie is key lime.

The best thing about assigning a final paper for ug intro stats where students pick a question based on their own survey data, ID the right analysis, and write it up is that I get to test whether responses to "How do you feel about statistics (1-5)?" has changed from start of semester to end.
