I often complain about the poor repairability of modern devices like laptops or cellphones. But this 1980s Yaesu FT-290R 2m multimode transceiver takes the cake. Took me two hours to get the flaky LCD display out, clean it and put it back in. Not sure yet if it will ever work again. #hamradio

Managed to modify my #quansheng k5 with the SI4732 receiver pcb (V2) receives short wave #hamradio and #broadcast in acceptable quality with a random wire antenna and a balun.
It picks up some microphonics despite being glued to the main board.
