Another thing it would not be accurate to suggest is that teacher assessment - via CAGs and TAGs in the pandemic - is/was worse for disadv. students. Ofqual analysis of results makes this clear 1/6

With the CAR Interim Report due soon, a Monday reminder not to let anyone tell you teacher assessment (TA) is less accurate or valid than other methods. The only yr with QA and TA (2021) saw just 2% of centres asked to revisit grades & just 195 out of 5.7m grades changed 1/2

The savage irony of Ofsted identifying, in these proposals, the defining qualities of an institution that fails in its duty of safeguarding as one where “There is a closed culture. Leaders are not open to challenge and/or do not learn from issues or incidents.”

“OK, we’ve heard you, inspections are too blunt & high stakes. To reduce the stakes we’ll increase 4 cats. to 5, increase the judgement areas from 4 to 11 & increase monitoring if you’re in difficult circumstances” 🤦♂️

The Government has proposed an unfunded, 2.8% pay increase for teachers next year. Instead of continuing Conservative austerity, the Government must fully fund the above-inflation pay increases desperately needed to value, recruit and retain teachers and school leaders. neu.org.uk/latest/press...
