Rubio claimed belonging to Europe through descent — colonial, Christian, culturally singular. European leaders whose own societies are post-colonial, multilingual, and internally diverse stood and applauded. They were not reassured. They were sedated.
Sedated by Heritage
A shift in tone bought a standing ovation in Munich. The demands, the leverage, and the terms of the relationship remained unchanged.

Spain spent five years building democratic consensus to regularise 500,000 migrants. Brussels heard a procedural violation. New Cultural Currents on what the standoff actually reveals about European governance.

Madrid Spoke. Brussels Didn't Listen.
Spain's regularisation decree exposed something deeper than a policy disagreement — a collision between two systems of legitimacy that neither side recognises.

Ok I came up for air from watching Netflix because the Bills aren't playing in the Super Bowl. Bad Bunny wasnt bad. He truly made a point about the contributions of Latinos and Latinas to the US. From plantations to working on power lines. Special shout out to Canada as mentioned them last.

Trace Jackson Davis is the Raps new big. Only cost us a 2nd rounder. Nearly 5 boards a game in his career. Not bad.

Right now though, the Raps need to stop blowing 4th quarter leads. Either it's the personnel, play calling, or both.

Now awaiting CP3 news and I suspect one more deal is left.

Well it's sort of happening on Sunday. Finally Eglinton Crosstown /Line 5 is going to open on Sunday.

I took this pic in 2014 according to my Instagram. I had this button much longer.

For Keir Starmer, the crises and climbdowns just keep getting faster.

The PM is facing questions about his judgment in appointing Peter Mandelson as UK ambassador to Washington despite his Jeffrey Epstein links.
Mandelson crisis puts Starmer in his moment of greatest peril
The ratchet of climbdowns and drama is speeding up for British PM Keir Starmer and his chief of staff Morgan McSweeney.

2 questions for the Toronto crew

1. Is Olivia Chow going to run for another term?
2. Who is a legit contender to oppose her, and please don't say Brad Bradford?

I remember working Gate 1 at the ACC back in 2004. Here comes Rod Strickland rolling in probably 2 hours before tipoff. Back when the Raps were shit and he didn't even care.

Oh do I know this. No one wants to even drop a dime for my work but not even expecting an income out of it.
i know that this is an unpopular take, but everyone starting their own newsletter as a revenue stream is not a sustainable model for writing and reporting or for people who love and want to pay for media.
A lot of people cannot just start a paid newsletter or become freelancers to sustain their careers. The sports, metro, and international desks did work that requires *team* resources, like legal checks, documents, access to archives, and long-term beat experience.

The long game Canada would weather this storm. Short term I have to look at the potentiality that this could occur and means I need to accelerate my European dreams.
Rising separatist sentiment could come with real risks to jobs and income. I estimate nearly 2 million jobs depend on interprovincial trade with Alberta and Quebec.

I am telling you. These Conservatives (Jivani, Danielle Smith) really hate Canada. Forcing themselves to change the system isn't going to get them anywhere.

Man I have gone from bored out of my mind to sending out multiple resumes in Toronto and Europe, and proposals in the last few days.

Talk to me in plain English @blakemurphy.bsky.social @michaelgrangenba.bsky.social @ekoreen.bsky.social

So under the tax and cap space while CP3 doesn't have to report. Means the Raps can make a bigger deal?

This guy Jeffrey Rath is a fucking clown. Watching this interview with Vassy Kapelos and hearing him talking about "communist Ottawa" and the globalists goes to show his ignorance and needs to be disbarred.

Suella Braverman's takes while sitting as a Conservative were always on the deep end. Now she has defected to Reform, it will seem she is right at home.

A Globe opinion writer told Canada to "show our neighbours what real leadership looks like" in March. Now he wants us to grovel so Trump can "claim another victory."

In a recent Globe essay, Jay Pitter categorizes Black laughter as an "inherited grammar" that can model resilience for us all. It’s a warm sentiment. But as the cancellation of the Adelaide Writers' Week just showed us, a grammar based on identity silos collapses the moment real conflict starts.
