Trying to reach/connect with any art journalist who would be interested on writing about an exhibition I co-curated at Latinx Project titled RicanVisions: Global Ancestralities & Embodied Futures. We’d love someone interested in latinx artists, communities and histories to share their thoughts.

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

If you’re in an institution doing any kind of DEI work, the most important thing to do right now is simply call it something else. Change it to “Community Outreach” & then keep on doing the same important work. When they outlaw Community Outreach rebrand it as “Strategic Partnerships,” rinse/repeat.

Recuerdo cuando discutíamos el posible impacto de la llegada de Walmart a #PuertoRico. Según dos ensayos académicos recientes, “[…] Walmart makes the places it operates in poorer than they would be if it had never shown up at all.” www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...
The Walmart Effect
New research suggests that the company makes the communities it operates in poorer—even taking into account its famous low prices.

The irony that a full-scale retrospective of work of Elizabeth Catlett—a self-described Black revolutionary artist—will open in the nation's capital a little over a month from now is almost too intense to describe. If you're in DC in the coming months you should go see it www.nga.gov/exhibitions/...

As art continues its ascent as a luxury item and investment, two Chicago exhibitions challenge the idea that it’s only for the elite.
Chicago’s History of Radical Art Pedagogy
Two concurrent shows focused on the radical social and political possibilities of progressive art education in Chicago ask: Who is art really for?

Museums and big non profits need to play catch up with so many mid career artists it’s ridiculous. Let’s give solo shows and their well deserved recognition to artists while they’re still alive and well, to collaborate, do tours, panels, workshops etc. I have so many artists on my list.

I guess the culture here is to introduce yourself— I am a curator and arts administrator mainly focused on the art of the Caribbean, the Americas and its diasporas. I’m also very interested in global and indigenous epistemologies and connecting art from different contexts.
