Internalized capitalist bullshit: when heavy snow was expected, my boss sent out a text saying those of us in the hilly neighborhoods were to stay put until our routes were 100% clear. I felt gratitude. We should be able to take it for granted that our employers want us to be safe.

This is my fourth year not working in a grocery store. I miss cheese and my work homies, but I have to say it's great being able to literally forget about Thanksgiving until the last minute.

In 2011, while grieving a surprise death, I finally joined FB because I felt that having a big network of friends could help stave off loss. I knew it was magical thinking at the time, but I did it because what else could I do? I'm still big on community and am hoping this will be a better platform
