I don’t have much of any investment in either of these logos, BUT… rewarding aggrieved white people for throwing temper tantrums over “southern heritage” is exactly how Reconstruction ended and how the seeds of the modern conservative movement were sown.
BREAKING: Cracker Barrel has officially announced that it has changed its decision and will be keeping the original logo

So many fantastic ideas in this thread on how we can show up for each other in small but incredibly meaningful ways. 💗
A thread from yesterday, and a follow up question for my fellow US residents, if you’re noticing similar things:

What kinds of things, big or small, are you doing/trying to counteract relationship strain?
So many people I know in the US are emotionally dysregulated (politically, how could you not be?) and their relationships are paying the price.

It’s tough to watch so many of us take it out on each other, whether with friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, public figures, comment sections.

My boss says and does a lot of really wonderful things. They are fantastic. But the thing they say that hits me to the core every time is a heartfelt “thank you” for my work. Specific and timely feedback is so meaningful.

It's sadly time to replace my pink Birkenstock Gizeh sandals. Birkenstock not making it easy with so many lovely colors and styles. Too many choices for my brain.

Bought a vintage tea towel calendar at an estate sale this morning. Fell in love with her orange & gold kitchen. I've now found her obituary & constructed an entire narrative on why June saved & never washed this particular towel. I will not be taking notes on how unhinged this behavior is.

Well of course. With all that is going on, they SHOULD be working to liberate the oppressed but nope, looking for opportunities to act ugly. Gross.
Southern Baptist delegates at their national meeting call for a gay marriage ban, urging a reversal of the Supreme Court's 10-year-old ruling legalizing it.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This post was updated to clarify that Southern Baptist delegates at their national meeting called for a ban.
Southern Baptist delegates at national meeting overwhelmingly call for banning same-sex marriage
Southern Baptists overwhelmingly endorsed a ban on gay marriage — including a call for a reversal of the Supreme Court’s precedent legalizing it nationwide.

Our neighborhood Lutheran church provides free breakfast to anyone several times a month. They post up in the parking lot with coffee and food. On our walk today, they called out to us and offered food. We remarked how great it was that they were feeding the community. Their response?

Whyyyy do folx answer the phone and then say, “I can’t talk. I’m in a meeting, driving, busy, etc.” when they could, just, not answer? Let voicemail do that work for you beloved babes.

Stupid Joy™️ for this week is realizing that a fave show, Travel Man, has added episodes to YouTubes. Richard Ayoade exploring Europe with his acerbic sense of humor? Yes please.

Had to cancel brunch plans with a friend Friday because of a sick migraine. Woke up from a very long nap to find she had McDonald’s coke & fries delivered to my front door b/c she read caffeine could help a headache. Gah, so generous and thoughtful. I have the best people in my life.

That’s one cool cat. She got in there on her own, I assure you. Yes, that’s an REI cooler. No, there is no food or ice in it. Just a silly kitty.

This morning I dropped and spilled my Big Dumb Cup of water all over the kitchen floor. After cleaning it up and refilling it, I promptly left it at home when I left for work. Sigh.

Friend, who I haven't seen in about a year, called to say they were in my town and asked if they could stop by real quick to "hug my neck" and y'all, we need more of this in our world. Hug more necks. With consent, of course.

Also braved IKEA on a Saturday so we could have this little bright spot of a rainbow by the door. Did he bribe me with Culver’s? Yes. Worth it.

Last night I had to get out of the biscuit to intervene when a possum was tryna snatch baby bunnies. In slow motion, possum style. Momma Rabbit wasn’t having it, screaming up a storm. So that was wild.

Time to begin the search for a vintage stereo receiver. Estate sales, don't let me down. Still holding out hope for a stereo cabinet, but until then, receiver will do.

This has been the focus on my devotional this week. And my focus as I try to be fully present with our clients, and anyone else I interact with. I know singular interactions have made all the difference in my day before.
Good morning, beloved.

There is strength in joy.

Sometimes we need to build that strength by practicing joy.

Today is a great day to overcome evil with good.

Grocery pickup at HEB. For the second pick up in a row they do not have fresh tortillas. I'm starting to worry. Fresh tortillas are a staple at HEB. They don't "run out". Ate my pink pan dulce in the car like a grown up, but still worried.

Recently finished Tyler Merritt's book, "This Changes Everything" and I did not expect to laugh so hard (out loud, many times) at a book about cancer. Read it. You need to laugh. You need Tyler's words. And his footnotes. Don't skip the footnotes.

The Navajo Code Talkers are heroes. They helped our country defeat Nazis & fought for our freedom. It’s despicable that this administration has removed this history from their webpages. We will always honor them — even in the face of this administration’s hostility toward veterans.
Web pages honoring Navajo Code Talkers, who played a key role in American victories during World War II, vanished from U.S. military websites this week in an apparent purge tied to the Trump administration's crackdown on diversity, equity and inclusion.
Defense Department: Navajo Code Talker content removed in DEI purge will be restored
The removal of web pages honoring Navajo Code Talkers following Trump's executive orders is generating outrage in New Mexico.

Welp, it is super cloudy, but I still set my crystals out in their salt water bath to soak up the Blood Moon tonight. I mean, I always feel recharged after a night in nature and a good bath.

Our climbing Jasmine has bloomed thousands of gorgeous, teeny, yellow flowers and now it smells like cherry lifesavers on our patio. 13/10 no notes.
