Criminology lecturer at Loughborough University researching social harm and resistance strategies of people seeking safety and the communities around them. Views own
The last couple of days at #BorderCrim2025 have been wonderful. Saw old faces, met new people, heard about some exciting work. The theme of resistance recharged my activist battery a bit which has been in overuse for the last couple of years
It’s day two of #BorderCrim2025 annual workshop! We’re at Clare College @cambridgelaw.bsky.social starting the day with a panel on Gender, Violence and Exploitation.

Happy to see our latest work together published in Millenium. After disaster a return to the status quo isn't inevitable. It can be an opportunity to resist journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1...

Really saddened to see this. Volunteers work so hard to provide a place where people can remember the loved ones they lost to covid-19 💔
This morning, we were devastated to find the children's section of the wall defaced and desecrated. The mindless cruelty, the utter lack of respect for those precious lives lost... 💔

I made decision to withdraw from #eurocrim2025 this year after asking myself 'How would the brave women who shared their experiences with me feel about sharing their stories in this forum?'

I'm in Athens for the next week and up for some of the below and chatting #resistance & #borders over coffee

ESC colleagues: petition & important vote at the General Assembly. If not boycotting, vote. Or a 3rd option: use presentation time to discuss complicity and promote attendance at the GE?

I'm scheduled to present on asylum seekers & everyday resistance. It would be unethical if I didn't resist too
... and if you still intend to attend, get behind the motion to be discussed and voted on at the General Assembly of the 25th Eurocrim Annual Conference, on 05.09.2025 at 13:00

This is such a cool idea - this book is an incredible, powerful chronology of thoughts, reflections & poetry about an extraordinary time, fast receding into the public’s collective memories.
