postdoc fellow @UBC | fish physiology 🐟🐠🐡 | environmental stress | studied an enzyme for 6 years | now studying giant white sturgeon | she/her
Check out our new study looking at how white sturgeon deal with warming and low oxygen! 🌡️🫧 Interestingly, the order in which these stressors are experienced and whether exposures are acute or chronic may have important effects on their responses
Understanding responses to co-occuring stressors is especially important
for at-risk species. Learn more in this new study: Prior thermal acclimation gives White Sturgeon a fin up dealing with low oxygen. 🐟

soo excited to share my latest paper & illustration~ a sturgeon meta analysis evaluating thermal tolerance where we asked can sturgeon handle climate warming? Unfortunately we found that physiological impacts across life stages limits ecological success 🧪👩🏻‍🔬🐠🌎🐡

Funds all go to Pridelines as “unrestricted” which means they can be used to pay for things like hotel rooms for LGBTQ+ youth who have been thrown out by their families (which grant funds often can’t). As always, we’re extremely grateful for any support folks can offer to this amazing organization!
