If you are mad about living in a surveillance state and you also have a doorbell camera, you are a part of the problem.

We could just be reading great books, watching good movies, and eating fruit. Instead we have to survive/fight miserable power hoarders. What a waste of limited time.

If my very religious parents tell me to pray on it or say, "May that the way God is leading you," I may crash out.

My favorite fixed dog is too intelligent and mischievous for her own good.

Came home to a small mess on the floor from her playing with Styrofoam in a table's box, but she gave my foster dog a plastic drop cloth to tear up in his kennel.

They just like average canine testicles to me that are connected to a mutt.

So you're obsessed with your dog's testicles 👍

Things I do with my
fixed dogs that I can't do with my intact ones:

#4: Let a random family member or friend watch them when I have to go out of town.

As stated before, castration is a term for males only. If you're obsessed with your dog's testicles just say so.

Most people nowadays don't sterilize their dogs for either of those things. Most of the time, it's to lessen the responsibility load of owning the dog.

Understanding even the best trained dogs can make mistakes and that you can't control others, then taking the steps to prevent unwanted litters isn't abuse.

My fixed dogs get to enjoy the outside without me interrupting.

Things I do with my i
fixed dogs that I can't do with my intact ones:

#2: Leave them loose inside the house unsupervised.

Exception is when the opposite sex is behind a locked door while I'm home awake.

- LGDs behind electric fencing

Please don't come in my comments unless you have your facts straight and/or are able to see the truth. My family debates for fun.

You sound like PETA.

Owner's choice. Yes, it's always an option that could be unsuccessful, and it still comes with almost the same responsibility of an intact dog.

The owner's quality of life does matter.

Most of the people I've chatted with can agree that sterilization is necessary in some cases. I already stated a couple of them. Facts that you keep on brushing over, which says a lot.
February 5, 2025 at 8:49 PM
I am not going off just my experience. I'm a good listener and always down to chat with more experience handlers. I take notes, and I'm coming at this perspective with all that knowledge.

If someone has been in the community for over 20 years, I highly doubt they're incompetent.

You don't know anything about data or research.

120 GSD in Egypt
~10 million GSD in the world
~900 million dogs in the world

GSD: >0.0012%
Dogs: >0.000013%

That's a small sample size. Generalization and misinformation hurts dogs.

I work my fixed dogs in a variety of activities.

Sterilization happens for a multitude of reasons, including the owner's quality of life, health, and helping the dog focus. Sterilization happens no matter how experience the handler is.

When you're educating, you need to have your facts straight.
February 5, 2025 at 8:18 PM
The study before that was for Rottweiler. Then AI report and article.

I was fortunate to be born into the working dog and horse communities. Also, blessed to work at a vet clinic that saw working dogs because they were a part of the community. I've friends who do scent work with their fixed dogs.

It is about you because you want to make a statement for the working dog community as a whole.

That was a small sample size and only for GSD. Unsure if ethically breed for not or timing of sterilization. The last one's result said there was a low chance for sterilization before 1 yrs old.

So you currently own dogs who have titles in scent work or have proven work ability otherwise? Your clientele, including people from the scent work, tracking, search and rescues, service dog, police, or the military?

If the answer is no, then you aren't a part of the communities.
February 5, 2025 at 6:32 PM
Being an experienced dog trainer and being a part of any of those communities are 2 different things.

Again, are you part of those communities? What type of activities are you doing with your own dogs? What type of training are you doing?
February 5, 2025 at 6:16 PM
Did you even read that studies results? 🫠

Are you even part of the working, show, hunting, herding, protection, service, or sports dog communities???
February 5, 2025 at 6:00 PM
Again, that's not an actual study 🙄

There's a different level of responsibility. I would know because I own both intact and sterilization dogs. I'm also a very responsible dog owner with highly trained working dogs. I'm happy to list out the difference if you need me to.
