Really good summary of this important paper. I wonder if the fact that papers in economics are so "big" is another contributing factor -making it more hierarchical

Or -how much school closures could have been avoided (by say coinciding a mini lockdown with half term autumn 2020 or not subsidising meals out)
I wonder how many deaths could have been avoided. Maybe 30k for the late first lockdown. 40k for the late second one. 5k for eat out to help out. 5k care homes in the first wave. 20k for better test and trace [or same death toll and looser lockdown]. These are complete guesses.

The lesson UCU needs to learn is not how to strike but when to strike-unions can get members a bigger share of the pie but can do nothing when there is no surplus to share
