Last week our Y7 Geography students were developing their map reading skills. They were using Ordnance Survey maps to investigate landscapes, settlements and spatial patterns. Fantastic teamwork and curiosity on display — future geographers in the making! 🌍✨

We’re excited to be holding our Preloved at Altwood’s Attic sale to raise funds for Thames Hospice. We are looking for good quality clothing/accessories. Please drop donations off at school by Thursday 27th November. All unsold clothes will be donated to Thames Hospice.

Last week some of our 6th formers went to a 1 day conference in Birmingham-Materials, Minerals & Mining Matter. This event was aimed at young people in Y12 with an interest in STEM subjects.

We are so proud of our Y8 student Maisy & her amazing fundraising efforts, including a bake sale raising £102.35 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
She has also volunteered at the Poppy Appeal stall in Taplow Sainsbury’s, helping to raise funds for the Royal British Legion.

Huge congratulations to our student Torin H-F who has been selected for the England Hockey Talent Academy this year.
Torin was invited to trial for the England Hockey Talent Academy & has been selected for the 2025/6 squad based at Reading Hockey Club.

The Geography Department is thrilled to announce the results of our Year 7 Antarctica Flag Competition! 🌍🏆
Our talented Year 7 students have designed some fantastic flags inspired by Antarctica, & after a round of tutor group voting, the winners have been chosen!

This week we had a whole day dedicated to 'Restart a Heart 2025'
We trained the whole of Y10 with 2 volunteer first responders from the ambulance service. It was a hugely successful day, teaching a valuable life skill. Well done to everyone involved.

Just before half term Our Yr10 Unit Award class were getting busy in the kitchen for their very first cooking session, rustling up tempting winter (autumn!) warmers with their bread and butter puddings! Yummy-great baking everyone!

Earlier in the year we had our Art and Design GCSE/A-Level showcase. This is a chance for families to come in and see the amazing, creative work being produced by the students for their exams. Great work everyone!

Our Y7's have taken part in the Antarctica Day Flag Competition where winning designs are taken to Antarctica by scientists to help raise awareness of the continent’s global importance.

Our Y7 after-school cookery club made Saag Aloo (spiced Potato and Spinach dish). Doesn't it look delicious! Next term cookery club will be open to Y8 students.

Last week we took our second group of GCSE students to Brighton for their compulsory fieldwork visit. This component contributes 30% of the total marks for Paper 3 and the aim of the visit is to investigate both human and physical aspects of Geography in the field.

Year 9 Geography class were set a homework task to create their version of 'The Journey To The Centre Of The Earth.' There was a whole class and teacher WOW response when this project entered the room! Well done Arvin and Jacob-great, creative work. 🌍🪐☀️

Huge congratulations to our Y8 student Mason. W. who passed his 1st Kyu (brown belt with 2 white stripes) in Shotokan Karate. Gradings at this level are intense & his exam lasted 45 minutes! He is now only one away from a black belt. What a brilliant achievement! Well done Mason

Recently some of our Y12 students had a fantastic trip to Reading Uni. They toured the campus, spoke with student ambassadors, and took part in engaging workshops on university life and study skills.

On Friday we held our annual Macmillan coffee morning. Students & staff baked and faked cakes which were enjoyed and I'm pleased to announce that we raised a spectacular amount of £525! All money raised is going to Macmillan Cancer Support.
