Also, I have a perfectly good Candlemassy novel set at this time of year in 1604 (New Style), involving priest holes, poisoned lemons, an innocent sister caught up in the machinations of her cunning brother, a clutch of pre-gunpowder plotters, and a romantic, dreamy aristo-poet ripe for gulling.
I’ve got a perfectly good Christmassy novel set over the festive season in 1933, involving Loch Ness Monster hunters and rival journalists and a love-lorn, bereaved 13-year-old hero, just sitting on my hard drive waiting to be read. Next Christmas, maybe.

Great poster action for this by Hammer/WB, though. I used to have a ratty original copy of the one on the left, but it got lost in a house move. I love the sense of humour of the one on the right, too.
