In this new @bostonglobe.com article, I argue Massachusetts should reject rent control (a terrible counterproductive policy) and instead address housing shortages by ending exclusionary zoning: www.bostonglobe.com/2025/08/13/o...
How to get Mass. to embrace YIMBYism - The Boston Globe
Letting property owners decide how to use their own land is a far greater level of local control than allowing local governments to impose one-size-fits-all regulations.

Ramaswamy “seems to think that halving the number of bureaucrats will halve the number of forms that need to be filled out.” But it’s conceivable instead that halving the number of FDA employees processing approvals “would mean that approving new drugs would be delayed twice as long.”
Scott Alexander is not a lawyer, but this analysis of bureaucracy and red tape is eminently usable in any law school leg-reg course. Take-away: Regulatory delay is a function of statutory vagueness and judicial review, not size of agency or number of bureaucrats. open.substack.com/pub/astralco...

Camp form just asked me if my child has been exposed to any communicable diseases in the last three months, and my pedantic lawyer brain is overheating over here.

(She is a human who ventures out into society regularly? Like, yes, of course she's been exposed to communicable diseases?)

There's an Ayn Rand short story about a movie star who goes incognito as an extra to prove she could achieve the same level of success if she had to start all over again. That must be what it's like to have 50k followers on Twitter and then start an account here.
