Being unwell with Pericarditis and Costochondritis has limited me to a few steps into the back garden, and what wonders are there.

Don't know who this is for, but man the history of horse domestication really stands out for how confusing it is. There have been major multiple major books published in the last five years that confidently say exactly opposite things.

This one is good, imho: www.williamttaylor.com
Hoof Beats | How Horses Shaped Human History
Journey to the ancient past with cutting-edge science and new data to discover how horses forever altered the course of human history.

Hookand is gothic and a conversation with the ghost soil of place 365 days of the year. Halloween and the whole season of the dead is sacred, intimate and primarily focussed on listening for me. So, apologies if you expect movie recommendations and a big event, a Hookland Halloween isn’t that way.

For @blackboughpoetry.bsky.social this Halloween. After a place I often drive past:

Past intruding into now,
hotel at the crossroads,
with a hangman on the sign.

Goodnight from the No. 34 bus, which appears to have taken an unexpected diversion into Faerie just outside of Oakgate. Goodnight from Jennifer Hollingshead, wishing a pentalpha ring of Solomonic authority was available in the Green Shield Stamps catalogue. Goodnight from Hookland.
