I spoke with 🇵🇱 climate negotiator Katarzyna Wrona ahead of #COP30.

The real cost isn’t just money.
It’s Poland’s lost competitiveness.
In 2023, Google, Amazon, Mercedes & IKEA all warned that Poland’s dirty energy mix could drive them to invest elsewhere.

What a cliffhanger!
Historically, PiS tends to be underestimated in exit polls. 5 years ago, Duda increased his lead by exactly 0.6 pp, which is the same margin Nawrocki would need to overturn the result now. That means the final outcome of this election could really come down to every single vote

The exit poll from Poland's presidential election run-off shows that the result is too close to call.
Government-aligned centrist Rafał Trzaskowski has 50.3% while conservative opposition candidate Karol Nawrocki is on 49.7%.
All eyes will now be on the official result, due tomorrow.

How US tariffs could impact the Polish economy 🇵🇱📉
@PIE_NET_PL warns that new US tariffs on the EU may significantly affect Poland. While the US is only Poland’s 8th biggest direct export partner, it is the 2nd largest recipient of Polish value added after Germany.

Poland's gov's green energy transition strategy? All talk, no action.
A year in office, not a single law to advance renewables, while coal subsidies soar higher than Taylor Swift’s record-breaking ticket sales. 💸
Why is Poland stuck in the past? 👇

✅ Renewables hit a record 29% of electricity generation in Poland (up from 26% in 2023) – driven mainly by solar. 🌞
❌ Coal still dominates, making up nearly 57% of the mix – the highest reliance in the EU. 🏭

Poland's government came to power exactly one year ago on a pledge to end the country's near-total abortion ban.
But that promise remains unfilled, leaving many women angry and disillusioned, write Alicja Ptak and Christiaan Paauwe.
