I went to a popular spot to watch sunsets in Kyoto. However, even though it was Dec., the crowds were overwhelming. Instead of setting up ear to ear I chased the more intimate light as it threaded through the bows of the trees and lit the leaves on fire in a tranquil torrent of auburn, red and gold.

What's this!? Dust removal in lightroom? At long last? I think I might cry.

I just adore the power of the light in this image. It’s such a simple one. And yet I feel you truly get a sense of the light and energy and invigorating serene beauty that I felt in the moment. Kyoto, Japan | December 2025.

Can you feel the depth of this slot canyon? The draw of it…and the tickle that makes you wonder if dragons are truly truly the stuff of fantasy? #iceland #photography

First, the momentum of No Kings, and now this stunning rebuke of the MAGA hijacking of America is a truly hopeful glimmer of light in a profoundly dark period for the U.S. - I just hope the Dems can finally figure out how to communicate and its not too late with too many safeguards destroyed.

I'm just assembling my Top 100 B&W images from 2024 (yes 1 year behind). The upside to being numerically incompetent, is that I've made the hard choice to exclude quite a few images based on 90 slots and only just now (that i'm done) realized I set it up with 90 and not 100. Time for a bonus round!

China has extended their visa free travel offer for a wide swath of Europe (+ new countries). I'm not traveling on this visa, but will be out there from Dec 14th for food and photos. It's become so much easier to get around and visit in recent years and fascinating.

Pulled my stories from 9 days in Japan last December into a single extended video. Now up on youtube - it's raw and nothing fancy. But if you want to see me explore Japan for the first time - perhaps interesting. youtu.be/CtASLFJJE-Q?...

Copenhagen beneath the northern lights - last Saturday. Wild that you can spot them in the heart of the city during stronger storms - don't you think?

As I explored the area looking for opportunities to capture the sense of city and the northern lights above I stumbled onto this heron. I love the mix: brightly lit port, the natural phenomena of the northern lights filling the sky above, and a reminder of the animals sharing cities with us.

7+ million folks and there was not a single Nazi or Hooded Racist to be found (unless you visited the counter protestors). Funny how that works, and tells you all you need to know about the difference - isn't it? #NoKings

Up the path, over a hill, past a grand overlook and then down a cobblestone path I went. Chasing the radiant morning light. And that’s when I found myself pausing here. Kyoto | December, 2024

I’ve finished my edits form Japan last December - better late than never right? Now just a few more to share and then moving on to Iceland edits. This B&W is one of my favorites from the trip though. #kyoto
