building spacecake.ai for claude code ๐Ÿฆ€
Pinned
I'm building a WYSIWYG markdown editor for Claude Code.

it has an integrated terminal (Ghostty) and support for 20 programming languages.

oh, and it's fully open source ๐Ÿ˜Š

terminal is just faster for most work.
what's missing imo is markdown editor and diffs.

I'm extremely happy right now!

turns out I didn't have posthog set up correctly, so I'm not actually sure what was happening before.

but either way, spacecake has its first few users! ๐Ÿ˜

gotta make the most of subsidised usage while it lasts!

I'm on the $100 plan but not running much in parallel atm.

shipped two massive improvements for spacecake today:

โ€ข ability to paste images in the terminal for Claude (this was killing me, had to figure it out!)
โ€ข support for YAML frontmatter (necessary for Claude skills)

no claude code in the quadrant.

and look where cursor is compared to windsurf.

absolutely comical.

you're not behind, you're at the forefront.

what a great quote.

most of the world is not experimenting like we are.

Gartner's magic quadrant is a countersignal at this point, but a good gauge on the disconnect between the frontier and the business world:

same. Gemini gets a lot of hate but it's very good at UI development.

I had the same dilemma re the max plan, but it's well worth it.

ended up cancelling cursor and some other subs afterwards.
January 14, 2026 at 8:42 PM
are you writing markdown docs?
January 14, 2026 at 6:59 AM
Codex is open source. I don't see why CC can't be.
January 14, 2026 at 6:53 AM
it is a really weird decision by Anthropic. wish they would open source it.
January 14, 2026 at 6:41 AM
utterly obsessed.
we've gone full circle - back to living in the terminal and writing markdown.
January 14, 2026 at 6:38 AM
