It was good to meet with the Mental Health Foundation today in Parliament. It is time for my colleagues to begin a concerted effort to build a mentally healthier society. But we can all play a role through compassion, listening to others and helping each other.

Great to see @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social announce a #menshealth strategy today. Men are less likely to seek help and more likely to die by suicide. Dedicated thought must also be given to the #mentalhealth of women and girls, who are increasingly likely to suffer anxiety and depression.

Lots to welcome in the government's Get Britain Working paper - especially departure from the toxic rhetoric about people too unwell to work, a commitment to tackling poor #mentalhealth and focus on #prevention. The wait to hear about possible benefits sanctions is worrying though.
