Well, it is well overdue that I start reading this and many more things for my upcoming seminar… I guess this first year of teaching a seminar on the monster as a point of reference to study Spanish culture will be a bit of testing and improvisation. A bit of an update: we got our third dog around 3 weeks ago or so. Her name is Julie, her Japanese name is Yuri (結織) and she is a Maltese mix with Cavalier. She looks like a cute cotton ball but she is a feisty one!

Forgot to post this one. Great reading to understand horror from a philosophical perspective. (I gotta admit that using Goya in the cover adds to the cool factor.) Now I’m onto my last (I hope) reading for this week’s talk. I already have an image of what the talk will be in my head.

Today’s reading. Still a theologian white man born in the XIX century, with all that it entails, but let’s see what I can make use of! This time in Spanish cause my Spanish friends gifted this to me long ago.

I’m terrified of the political situation globally, but at least I’m trying to make my students more politically and culturally minded so that they are not easily manipulated by the conservative media and politicians here in Japan. It’s a fine rope to walk, cause I do not want to make it look like….
