So, how's cachyOS? It's way more stable than my last Windows 11 installation, both in terms of general stability and software stability. I used gimp, blender, gamed a lot, wrote some smaller apps and it never did anything weird.

I've been using cachyOS for a week now, tested multiple games and max FPS is roughly the same between my linux and windows.
There's a major difference though - I've seen less major unexplained FPS drops. These drops were not big enough to ruin the experience, but hey, it's still an improvement.

Damn, I love #linux
Sleeping was never reliable on my windows - it was waking up immediately after falling asleep and no settings, and no tinkering around regedit could fix it.

I found out it's the same issue at Linux, except this time I could diagnose and fix the issue. And in less than 5 minutes

It had its charms, but it's simply dated today. I enjoyed tbc classic and wotlk classic, but vanilla was too much

Okay, OS is stable, everything works as intended. Now I want to focus on how it looks and make a video wallpaper. Easy, except I have a vision of what I want as my wallpaper and it doesn't exist.
Over the next few weeks I'm going to learn blender. Moving from 3dsmax is going to be tough 💀

The day I became a corpo was the day I started building my backlog. I think it's 140 titles now. It's awful, I hate it here, but I also need food and money to buy games I'm never going to play.

That's cool! Imagine all the refractions, reflections and caustics it would generate when struck with direct light! 😯

I know it's been just a few days since I went full #linux, but I think I managed to grasp the biggest difference between windows and linux for a normie user.
On linux I'm just enjoying using my PC, vibing - a spark of joy that was absent when I used Windows.

The plot thickens. I rolled back to popos 22.04 but after 24.04 it felt kinda sluggish, so I installed #cachyOS.
So far it's working perfectly fine, definitely better than Nobara and I loved the installation processes which allowed me to config a lot of things beforehand.

I'm totally switching when the stable release is out.
September 5, 2025 at 9:58 AM
Okay, pop!_os 24.04 alpha 7 is amazing. It worked really well, the standalone cosmic is cool (although, I still prefer KDE). Sadly, I started updating the shit out of it and it broke 😈

Next experiment? Pop! with KDE desktop. Now with a fully formatted drive switching os is quite pleasant.

I managed to last long enough to get #silksong

Actually, I have another idea. Once I move everything cool and important to my NAS, I will install the alpha version of popos. That sounds like an adventure!
September 4, 2025 at 3:49 PM
Honestly? I'm just curious and eager to try out some other distros before I get invested

How's #linux treating me so far? I added clock based night mode, played "my time at sandrock" and "valheim" changed a few smaller things and so far no issues whatsoever. Also , moved important files from Windows and connected to my NAS. Should I stay with pop!_os or should I switch to cachy os?
September 3, 2025 at 8:25 PM
So far I tried:
-Nobara - it struggled with my Nvidia GPU with an integrated AMD GPU. Not their fault but Nvidia's
-CachyOS - failed to install, I might try again later
-Pop!_OS - runs great, no artifacts like in Nobara, cool energy conservation features, uses both GPUs

#Windows, besides being annoying with their copilot, failed to update a second time in the last 7 days and messed up the boot loader. True, it's an easy fix, but that was the last straw for me.
I'm moving to #Linux. Blender runs great, most games are compatible, OS does just what I ask it to do.

Learning programming is weird. It's been more than a year, a few courses, hundreds of hours and thousands of lines of code.
I still think I can't code, yet I code without any issues.
Will it pass, or this self doubt and imposter syndrome is pretty much a norm in this line of work?

Every time LLM is being forced upon me I'm instantly moving away from this piece of software.
And I'm not even against LLMs and I believe they can be a really useful tool.
They are also a security threat, they waste a lot of resources and objectively make us dumber.

Wind farms fuel #globalwarming! On our flat earth they work as propellers which moves us closer to the sun!

Here are the missing parts from the title:
“The data seems to be pointing overwhelmingly to ship strikes,”
“there is no evidence to link these strandings to offshore wind energy development.”

I've been to Ukraine a few times, but I always avoided Kyiv.
Hopefully, I'll stop by to join your huge victory celebration sometime soon (better be soon, winter will not be ideal for some drinking and dancing in the streets!)

I haven't touched my guitar in a decade probably. I'm positive I can barely play at this stage 😂
August 26, 2025 at 7:23 PM
I switched recently. I mean, I used Debian in mid 2000s, but nothing too serious. Last straw for me was the notepad update, but I was already annoyed with the win 10 end of life and the fact my still powerful machine is incompatible with 11 (except it is, I installed it anyway)
