That was somewhat excruciating, but after years of wanting to, I finally figured out how to add custom buttons with vector icons to Visual Studio toolbars. My extension launches Bitbucket web, Git Extensions, GitHub web, Sublime Text, and Total Commander for the current repo/proj/file with 1 click.

An en dash is a horizontal line which is as wide as the letters "en" in that typeface.

I wonder if I can wedge workspace resolution into .NET projects.

Extensively using Java, Eclipse, Maven, and m2e showed me that better package development flows are possible than NuGet's abysmal, manual build & copy & delete & force restore dependents routine.

The best Wirecutter reviewers for most people are Lauren Dragan, Lesley Stockton, Brent Butterworth, Doug Mahoney, and Kimber Streams.
Why should you trust me? Over 12 years, I've bought 54 things recommended by 35 different Wirecutter reviewers, from tweezers to a television.

It seems only right that Microsoft's official 11th anniversary Windows Insider celebration wallpaper pack ZIP file was created on a Mac.

I must inform all you motherfuckers that it is once again decorative gourd season.

Finding it very tricky to insert all these razor blades into these chocolate bars without ruining them, and I didn't expect it to be this hard to convincingly reseal these bags of candy after mixing in all the hydrocodone pills.

Three years after removing it, the world's best Git GUI FINALLY has dark mode again, and I can upgrade from 3.5.4. github.com/gitextension...

I'm celebrating the end of (free, non-EU, non-ESU, non-Backup, non-MS-points) Windows 10 updates with two Windows 11 computers which have mysteriously lost the ability to install Windows Updates with some error I don't understand yet.

That's certainly better than letting broken versions linger in production for 11 days while rolled-forward fixes are slowly reviewed. It's insane and irresponsible that the braindead amateurs at Mozilla refused to allow this for 20 years.

Not very Windows XP. That trapezoidal Recycle Bin and My Documents are bastardized versions of the icons from 98, and the black mouse pointer is from Mac OS. As official products go, this is garbage for idiots by idiots.

Incorrect, Firefox isn't adding profiles, it's already had profiles for decades using "firefox -ProfileManager". Next are you going to claim that Mozilla is adding bookmarking?

I just learned that British rotary phones mapped the letters O and Q to the number 0, instead of to 6 and 7 like we did in the US because it's consistent and monotonic, and because the mapping isn't based on glyph congruency. Does S look like 7? Their logic is why we fought the Revolutionary War.

Why did lots of people decide to start calling 2560×1440 "2K"? We already have perfectly good names for it, like 1440p and QHD. It's also inaccurate because 2560 is closer to 3K than 2K, while 1920 is closer to 2K. There's no argument against rounding up either, since 3840 already rounds up to 4K.

I figured out that lots of my unread news articles were disappearing because somebody else's API server has broken pagination. To learn this, I had to implement wire logging from scratch, and I'm still not sure it turned out perfectly. The actual fix is to filter by unique primary keys.

It's the 10 year anniversary of me finding this iconic car. Every year I rediscover and more deeply understand just how cool as hell it is. It taught me a lot about problem solving and support networks. I'm totally in love, and feel privileged to manually shift this V12 coupe's gears.
