In a joint session today, Alaska lawmakers voted 45-14 to override Gov. Dunleavy’s $200 BSA veto, restoring vital public school funding. Many thanks to legislators who stood up for students, families, and communities by voting yes! #akleg

Today the Senate Finance Committee passed an amended version of HB 69, leaving only a $1,000 increase to the Base Student Allocation. All other items were removed. A $1K BSA floats all boats. #akleg

The House has passed HB 69 on a vote of 24-16 to increase the BSA by $1,000 per student. The bill now moves to the Senate. Thanks to House members for taking this step to support Alaska students and ensure our schools have the resources they need. #akleg

Since 2017 most Alaska departments have seen inflation-proofed budgets—some doubling—while K-12 funding declined in real dollars. HB 69’s built-in inflationary adjustments would put education funding on par with other state agencies. Schools deserve the same stability. #akleg
