"I see from my friends out here that nobody’s really getting housing”

The Ford government is criminalizing addictions and homelessness and refusing to address homelessness the way we know would work - with housing.

Ford government promised these health-care centres would be far better than supervised consumption sites. Are they actually working?
The province says more support is on the way, but delays in opening the hubs and a lack of access to housing have led to doubts about the strategy.

Sending this out to share my sadness and worry for the KCI community and the students, staff and families impacted by yesterday’s bus crash. I’m praying that all heal and get support to process the tragedy.

My condolences to the family of the driver.

"Now is the time for bold action. Hard challenges require us to step away from partisanship and focus on the people we serve."

@lfairclough.bsky.social and I wrote about the housing crisis Ontario is in and why we worked across party lines to put forward a bill to end homelessness.

I'm thrilled to celebrate the first Persons Day in Ontario today.

October 18, 1929 was a landmark moment in the fight for women’s equality in Canada when five brave women succeeded in having women included in the legal definition of “persons.”

Happy Thanksgiving Kitchener!

I'm feeling thankful to be able to spend time in nature with friends and family this weekend.

If you're able please consider giving what you can to local organizations like @foodbankwatreg.bsky.social, Nutrition for Learning, Tiny Home Takeout or Food4KidsWR.

Last year, more than 81,000 people in Ontario experienced homelessness—a 25% jump in just two years.

I know Ontarians care about their neighbours. Let's come together and ask the Ford government to take the actions we know make a difference.

This morning I took part in the annual Truth and Reconciliation walk hosted by The Healing of the Seven Generations.

It was great to see so many people from the KW community come together for this powerful reflection on the lasting impacts of residential schools.

I had a great day yesterday in Grassie for the 106th International Plowing Match.

It's such a treat to be able to speak with our farmers and learn about their stewardship of Ontario's farmland.

If you're in the area this week make some time to attend the IPM!

It's clear to everyone that something needs to change. Ontario needs a more ambitious strategy to address the tragic toll of drug poisonings.

As we celebrate love, identity, and the progress made by 2SLGBTQ+ communities, we must also recognize the rising tide of hate and violence around the world.

Pride began as a protest, and this year, the fight for equality, safety, and dignity continues.

I was glad to see the government’s announcement yesterday that it will not claw back the incoming Canada Disability Benefit from ODSP recipients.

The Ford government's anti-encampment bill won't help solve the homelessness crisis. All it will do is criminalize those who are already down on their luck.

We need more supports, not more stigmatization.
