I’ve never been a runner, but I’ve started lately—and it’s been amazing for clearing my head and managing stress. I’m slow, awkward, and very much a beginner… but I keep showing up. Still a turtle, but a resilient one. 🐢✨

The real evil in science? Not reviewer #2, not impact factors… it’s the Spanish CVA platform making you retype your whole life. And yes, the “A” definitely stands for Agonía. #academiclife

Academics are stuck in a game we always lose.

A for-profit publisher offered me $1K a year to edit one of their journals — work worth far more. I said no.

We write, review, and edit for free, then pay to publish and read. Time to stop playing the game. #publishingsystem #academia

We’ve got baby Megachile! 🐝💚 Tiny leafcutter bees are busy building their leafy cradles – nature’s little architects at work. #Pollinators #LeafcutterBees #Biodiversity @sarelab.bsky.social

🍯🐝 Honey is tasty, and beekeeping is necessary…but how many honeybee hives do we really need? That’s exactly what we’re trying to figure out. In the meantime… we have honey! 🌿✨ #GorBEEa @erc.europa.eu

Thrilled to welcome @julianresasco.bsky.social (University of Colorado) on sabbatical with us! 🌿🐝 Ongi etorri!
He gave a fantastic talk on how anthropogenic change reshapes plant–pollinator communities across time— from seasonal dynamics to long-term trajectories.

Just wrapped up a fantastic couple of days at RMBL🏔️ — inspiring people, incredible wildlife, and hikes that took my breath away (literally and figuratively 😅, altitude is tough). Already looking forward to the next time! 🌿✨

Touched down in Colorado ✈️🌄 Off to RMBL for a data-theory pollinator workshop 🐝🌸 After years of reading the papers, I get to see the actual place they came from. Pinch me!

Our new paper shows that high-density honeybee populations alter wild pollinator visitation rates but don’t lead to proportional increases in crop production — highlighting complex impacts on pollination services and ecosystem balance. 🐝🌸🌱 besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....
Negative ecological impacts of honeybees begin at densities below recommended levels for crop pollination
The ecological consequences of high-density honeybee management are significant, calling for a re-evaluation of pollination strategies in agricultural landscapes. Setting evidence-based hive density ...
