A network of Safe routes with fast ‘yes/no’ decisions, a positive message on immigration would take the small boats gangs out of business and be acceptable to the great majority. Instead we get a poor man’s Farage tribute act.

I get that! However if someone was granted asylum and visited that very country they claim they to have fled from it very simple update the checks at the point of departure or entry. You don’t need to let them back in the country. A period of 10 yrs would be enough. 20 yrs? Imagine losing 20 yrs!
