PLEASE buy your kids some basic wooden/playset toys for Holiday and Birthday or special occasion gifts. Blocks, farm set, town, house. Then put the screens away and sit down and create with them. Foundational skills! DM if you need help with language/vocab strategies.
Whoever needs to have these reminders:
- There is nothing wrong with sending your kids to public school. Homeschoolers are not better than you
- In the same vein, there is nothing wrong with daycare, and it does not stunt or ruin development

Don't forget hands on toys for kids' presents. Blocks, puzzles, board games, play-doh, physical books. Ditch the tech. Help their little brains and tactile motor skills grow!

America has an emotional maturity/idolization problem. The violence is awful, but beyond thinking the situation is sad for the family, to truly mourn any public figure is odd. We don't mourn random people in the paper. We need to spend our emotional energy more wisely. We don't know these people.

This isn't a good thing that happened. It's also okay to not have liked the person. You can both dislike the person, while disliking the act of violence and not wishing that on anyone's family, while not having any other real emotional investment in it. That stuff can all co-exist.

Don't forget about all the kids working hard in ESY programs, literally just to try and maintain skills they struggled all year to get. Hand out a popsicle or a juice box here and there.

@jd-vance-1.bsky.social I'll bite - I'm in a small (red) community relying heavily on medicaid/medicare. Almost all of my patients and students need it. I know we aren't your "targets", but your big push will hurt us. It's a fact. No way the funding cut does not impact service provision. Thoughts?

The nerd opinion that might get me cancelled:
Tears of the Kingdom is mega overrated. The only LoZ game I have played (I have played most of them) that I have ever DNF. Genuinely didn't like it. Weapon/fusion/Ultrahand system are atrocious - made the game flat out unenjoyable and disjointed. 🤷🏻♂️

Please don't hide food in other foods if you have a "picky eater". It may make them distrust their safe foods, and you. Go talk to your SLP to find out if they can, or know someone who can help you. The younger the better. Kids don't necessarily "just grow out of it". Ask for help!

Thunderbolts* was spectacular. Marvel just did more for mental health support and awareness in America than our own government. This is the one, even if you don't know Marvel well, or are into these movies, you should go see. Handles it beautifully.

Thick liquids and ground/puree solids are not always better. If you are a Physician on shift, please don't just make a diet change willy nilly without consulting your SLP first, or send someone home on a random diet. Big no no.
