This past weekend another vendor asked how our "Protect Trans Folks" and "Abolish ICE" banners affect our business. Well, the people we want in the booth see them and feel safe. And the people we don't want in the booth...in order to keep the others feeling safe...fuck off. It's great actually

The most unrealistic thing about the most recent Goosebumps show is a teen in 2023 Brooklyn knowing how to drive stick XD

When I was little, I read a children's book about WWII & was furious that we turned Jewish immigrants away when they were faced with genocide. Now we're home to the same fascist bullshit. How did we go from a country that didn't want to "knit too German" to actual nazis walking the streets proudly?

It isn't illegal the sell salmonella contaminated chicken in the US because, "it's the housewife's job to make sure that it is cooked properly." It's been considered a normal part of chicken products. Pressure was put on the USDA to make changes, which they agreed to, & then pulled in April 2025

I love stumbling on weird Ohio on accident. Phillip Clover, of Columbus, submitted a patent for a very Victorian device. A Torpedo Coffin. Yep. Between fear of "the unauthorized resurrection of a corpse" and a society obsessed with funerals, it was a major ...uh... blast. It detonated upon opening.

Y'all should see me editing down Notions Club & bluesky posts. Turning all my "ands" to & and shortening anything I can because I am autistically obligated to tell you everything I can about the thing (& then also my thoughts). Format included for reference.

Hey @visitcolumbuszoo.bsky.social!! This is Jim/Jack Crocks! He(?) was brought to Athens in (maybe) the 20's & lived at The Ridges for years before allegedly going to Columbus Zoo. Is there any record? We talked about him in our Notions Club & I'd love to be able to report back on his adventures.

Researching weird stuff on the internet used to be one of my favorite things to do. Now I'd gladly throw out router in the ocean until 2028.

A conversation my household
Ambi - Do you want to read this space book?
Me - Nah. I don't usually enjoy the space ones as much
Rein from the other room - THERE'S NOT ENOUGH DICKS
Me - There's no dicks in Stormlight Archives & I've read more of that than you
Rein - Moash is a dick
Me - Damn. Touche

A few years ago, I found out @tiltify.com was hiring a graphic designer and went feral designer mode to finish this ASAP. When I went to submit, the listing was gone, but I found this a few weeks ago and had to share. Turns out charity campaign pages are great for resume organization XD

A Sunday conversation at Cracker Barrel

“Do you have the chicken pot pie?”
“No ☹️”
“Shepherds pie?”
“You got it!”
*they run out of the roast for Shepards pie*
“How we doing on meatloaf”
“Oh we’ve got meatloaf!”
Kelley “hella meatloaf”
“Hella. Meatloaf.”
“Cool, I’ll have the hella meatloaf.”

Indiana treats roads the way that NYC treats buildings. Patch it. That’s probably fine. 👍🏻

Hi I have real shitty allergies.
I blew my nose today and my septum ring snapped open.
I cleaned it off and went to put it back in...

And dropped it down the vent in the floor.
It was my favorite.

Mountain Monsters is 8 seasons of 6 rednecks chasing a 600lb monster in the woods until they find a kindergarten quality track & make a trap out of literal trash to catch it, then a guy who sounds like boomhower yells “hoorah” at least 3 times. So, what I’m saying is, I highly recommend it.

You know those 10 Commandments statues that conservatives lose their minds over keeping on government land? 150 of them (in 34 states) were literally a marketing ploy for the Charlton Heston movie in the 50s

The Indianapolis Children’s Museum has a taxidermy polar bear named Martimus that’s been terrifying visitors since 1965. He left for repairs for a while and their social media was flooded with visitors asking for him back and recounting tales of being scared. He’s a multigenerational trauma stuffie.

So, the earliest socks are we have date back to the 4th century and they’re super complicated colorwork. But the first published pattern wasn’t until 1655. I like to believe there’s a mysterious wall of hieroglyphics they’ve been trying to decode that’s just a knitting pattern somewhere.

Buckle Up Buttercups ‘cause I just realized that this is where I can dump all my random “facts” - Some of our Cryptid stories with howls and calls come from moonshiners trying to scare off unsuspecting hikers from their stills. Alternatively, just because it was fun.
