I've never subscribed to the "if you aren't x you can't write x" brand of representational moral highgrounding in general, but it's borne out especially fucked for trans and other queer authors dealing with the witch hunting from the "SHOW ME WHAT'S IN YOUR PANTS" brand of terf rhetoric
