Just going to say that it is hurtful when a systematic study effort by the global small-body community, with many of the campaigns led by women, with results being pushed to free open-source arXiv & data repos for scicomm as quickly as possible, is described as lacking coordination/communication

I'll for global coordination for ISO follow-up, but it's telling that no one who's actually coordinating follow-up was actually asked to participate in this proposal or thought of to be even suggested as names on committees in this proposal

I’ve been lucky but I’m unusual. Many friends followed the standard advice, only to find that tenure came too late for their biological clock. Others broke under the pressure of trying to balance it all, reluctantly leaving academia for more family friendly careers. 7/9🧵

Listening to Andy Serkis' rendition of LoTR with my kids (first read through for all of us, I only ever got to the gates of Moria in my previous attempts) and I am astonished by the missed opportunity that was LoTR the Musical

The @cometinterceptor.bsky.social also notes what could have happened if they launched way back when iopscience.iop.org/article/10.3...

Earlier this year, I spoke at TEDxVitosha about our ESA mission, Comet Interceptor—a unique opportunity to study a pristine comet (or even an interstellar object) for the first time. I'm excited to finally share more about the motivation and vision behind CI. 🚀

The search for technosignatures and astrobiology are both very important! But crying "aliens!" everytime we don't understand something about an interstellar object is dangerous: said astronomer might get some attention, but is doing an enormous damage to the space science community in the long term.
