I'm thrilled to let you know that we've got a new paper out! 🎉🤩🥳

This time, we took a look at how weather and extreme weather events impact the flight patterns of three sympatric raptor species in southwestern Spain.

Differential Flight Responses of Sympatric Raptor Species to Weather Conditions and Extreme Temperature Events
Flying organisms, such as birds, alter their flight behavior in response to atmospheric conditions, and climate change has exacerbated extreme weather events like heatwaves, impacting their flight. T...

Excited to share a new publication, just off the press!! This time back to the terrestrial ecosystem, 📣 led by PhD student Charlie, @thecharlieroger.bsky.social , on using machine learning 🤖〽️ to identify wolf behaviours from accelerometer data #biologging, #movementecology. Congrats!! 👏
A supervised model to identify wolf behavior from tri-axial acceleration - Animal Biotelemetry
Background In wildlife studies, animal behavior serves as a key indicator of the impact of environmental changes and anthropogenic disturbances. However, wild animals are elusive and traditional GPS s...

Birds connect places! Using movements of >10K inds of a migratory shorebird, quantified site<->site connectivity across a flyway. Identified 49 highly connected sites 🐦

But, many are unprotected. Considering connectivity improves conservation for migratory species 🌎 🧪
