The coring campaign of the ExTRAP project - Exploratory study of Tephra Records in Azores Peatlands is ongoing on Pico Island. We are coring peatlands of the central highlands of Pico searching for tephra layers to help reconstruct the eruptive history of the island. Stay tuned for exciting results!

That's a warp on a very fruitful #IAVCEI2025 week in Geneva, Switzerland! Despite the heat wave across Europe, we hung on strong. It was great to catch-up with "old" friends, meet new colleagues and motivated ECRs. Thanks to everyone for the many interesting discussions about volcanoes 🌋

The book “O Vulcão da Urzelina de 1808 – Contributos documentais” reflects the joint work by Manuel Augusto de Faria, José Guilherme Reis Leite and Adriano Pimentel, where the authors transcribe and adapt official correspondence related to the 1808 eruption on São Jorge Island.
