A new pinned post of some builds that I really enjoyed doing…which is really what it’s all about right?
I am really annoyed (so that‘s f*cked off to many I guess) about gambling and its association with football (soccer) in the U.K. It‘s a pretty disgusting business and yet football has no qualms about taking their sponsorship cash left right & centre…ban it perhaps? Is it the same elsewhere?

I think there are episodes missing from this list. Small Mercies, The Maid In Splendour & Sauce For The Goose should be top five imho…🤷‍♂️

Much of this detail won’t be visible on the finished build but I enjoy attempting to do the detail justice. I may put some paint on this lower half soon. Had a couple of bizzare wrong part numbers in the instructions but nothing a few minutes hunting through the sprues didn’t quickly sort out 🙄👍

This sounds very interesting…but does anyone know the when and wheres though…?
Stolen from the Tamiya Blog on the other site. For me this could be a game changer.

I imagine this’ll be a nice kit when it arrives…I reckon, on average, RFM make some of the better tank kits…🤔👍

Chassis built and the engine, gearbox and radiator added. Next up are the wheel mounts and rods…

Just a general question…I suspect there are book and record/music communities on here somewhere but I am struggling to find them…should I be using hashtags to find them perhaps?
January 27, 2026 at 10:28 PM
A little ‘early doors‘ surgery requested and executed…🙄😊

Engine and gearbox. Typical of CSM…nice plastic, nice castings and good instructions…

I’m always having massive internal arguments about accuracy, prettiness, art, modulation, colours, realism, style etc in scale modelling…& am reaching the conclusion that none of this matters…extracting enjoyment & satisfaction is far more important than all this much too much argued about shite…🙄😊

This has turned up…will be getting stuck in to it at the weekend I suspect…I already know it’s going to be brilliant…I don’t see anywhere near enough posts on here about books like this…help😊🥃!?

Here’s a thing that made me happy. I reckon there isn’t a model company doing a better job than CSM at making you feel like you did when you bought a new kit aged about 12. Their ‘offer’ (yeah I hate the expression too) is marvellous and exciting…beautiful presentation and ‘freebies’ galore…

Due out this year I think…looks like it might be an interesting build…
January 26, 2026 at 7:59 PM
I have read that these were sent out in green and painted ‘sand’ which sounds plausible and offers some chipping possibilities too…so I think that’s the general approach I may take. An SMS lacquer olive drab undercoat and some sort of Tamiya acrylic sand colour over that after a dose of Elnett…🤔👍

All done with this MiniArt 1/35 scale tractor…a nice but quite complicated little kit…
January 26, 2026 at 1:59 PM
I finally got the wheels on this tractor…seems like an age for me but ten days from nothing much to this…
January 25, 2026 at 11:03 PM
There are some quite nice details on the exhaust system of this tractor…some of them will be hidden when the big wheels go on so I thought I’d get some close up photos before they do…should finish this tomorrow…👍🙄

The USA today is not the country I have visited so many times & loved so much for so many years…it seems completely broken…ffs…what a disaster…
January 24, 2026 at 11:42 PM
Anyone else suffer from the ‘I want to get this build finished now so I can start the next one’ problem…it’s almost every time with me but I think I have it sort of under control and am less inclined to rush finishing builds than maybe a year ago…?
January 24, 2026 at 10:19 PM
These last stages of a build now take me ages. I used to rush them but have sort of learned not to. Still need to spray the bracket that holds the exhaust blue but am now nearly ready for the ‘final assembly’…🤞👍

In the real world I would guess that most of us have a few good friends…like maybe 10 or 15…yet on SM many folks seem to think that 100s or 1000s of ‘friends’ is the norm…we live in a deluded and warped world methinks…🙄

Thanks for the comments/interest on this post. I’m going to do some *ahem* ‘investigative research‘ (mucking about) to see if I can work out what went on here and if it’s reproducible at all…it could be a useful effect for our kitbags…🤷‍♂️
Look closely & you’ll see imperfections in the blue paint on the upper front surface of the tractor (’ripples’). This happened after a lacquer flat varnish over hairspray/Tamiya acrylic chipping. I think the lacquer varnish disagreed with the hairspray or acrylic but here it looks cool & ‘right’ 🤷‍♂️?

I’m not a ‘military’ person at all…but I do have a healthy respect for those that are or have been…hence I am always nervous about commenting on matters relating to service in the armed forces…but it strikes me that ‘others’ who have’t done any military service should do the same…ffs 🙄🥃
