Aspiring historian at TCD. Secretary of the College Historical Society. Mostly posts about gay stuff in antiquity and the medieval period.
I was incredibly honoured to moderate the Hist's head-to-head discussion on the future of academia with Trinity's Almudena Moreno Borrallo and Cambridge's @allylouks.bsky.social in what was a great conversation about the state of the industry and how it may transform in the coming years!

My Roman Empire is thinking about saints in medieval hagiography who are described as either changing gender or exhibiting gender nonconforming traits, like Juana de la Cruz and Joseph of Schönau.

(and also just the actual Roman Empire)

Last week, I got to attend the "Imagining Queer Ecologies" Winter Symposium, run by the British Society for Literature and Science—an absolutely wonderful experience bringing together two of the most necessary fields in historical academia at the moment.

Looking forward to more soon!

Happy belated birthday to Antinuous (November 27), the 2nd century lover of the Roman emperor Hadrian, who, upon his death, was worshipped according to the emperor's orders! One of the most widely celebrated (and my personal favourite) queer love story in antiquity.
