Second-look laws provide a chance for people who went to prison as children to show they are ready to safely return home. In DC, IRAA has empowered people to give back to their communities as youth mentors and violence interrupters.

13 years ago today, Angel Alejandro sat in a cell in USP Beaumont after being deemed ‘incorrigible’ and sentenced to life at 15. But on that same day, he had his first glimmer of hope when the Supreme Court decided in Miller v. Alabama that “incorrigibility is inconsistent with youth.”
