Adam Dance
@adamjamesdance.bsky.social
Liberal Democrat MP for Yeovil. 🔸

Passionate about creating opportunities for everyone and ensuring that no one feels left behind.

Promoted on behalf of A Dance, all at 5 Church Street, Yeovil BA20 1HB
The Govt has dropped plans for mandatory digital ID for workers after yet another U turn. This scheme was always doomed and would have wasted huge sums of taxpayers’ money. Ministers must now confirm that the funding will go to the NMH, NHS & frontline policing instead.

In Parliament today I raised the difficulty many people in Yeovil & our rural communities face accessing mental health support. I challenged the Health Sec on long waits & stretched services. Funding is welcome, but it must reach rural areas too.

In Westminster Hall last week I raised concerns about cuts to play therapy services in Yeovil. Therapeutic play helps children cope with treatment and reduces fear. Services are struggling and therapists going unpaid is not acceptable. We need sustainable, child centred funding.

My Neurodivergence (Screening and Teacher Training) Bill is published.
It's scheduled for 2nd Reading on 16 Jan, subject to sitting Fridays being confirmed. It has not passed yet.
The Bill is about giving teachers better tools & training to spot needs early, not diagnosis or labels.

This shows why it’s so important that our local maternity services reopen fully & safely this year. No family should be forced to give birth at home because hospital care isn’t available. I’ll keep working with the ICB & Trust to make sure this happens.

Great to learn more about Sing2Breathe, a local charity using singing to support people with lung conditions like asthma and COPD. There’s now a group in Yeovil every Thursday, 2–3.15pm at Westlands. A brilliant example of community support improving health and wellbeing.

Valuable visit to SWEDA to learn about their vital work supporting people with eating disorders across Somerset. Demand is rising, yet eating disorders remain under recognised & under funded. Somerset is lucky to have a specialist charity. More info: swedauk.org
