Conservative columnist for the NYT David French writes today, "until the demand for decency reaches toward the very top of the movement, then Trump's malignant influence will continue to metastasize, and he'll hand the baton to [someone] who extends [his] legacy of cruelty, bigotry, and rage."

On the Trump administration's withholding of SNAP benefits for the poor, disabled, elderly, and children, Senator Amy Klobuchar says: "The cruelty is the point." She leads the Democrats on the Senate's top agriculture committee.

AP A friend of the court brief on concerns of former CIA Director Michael Hayden and former army chief of staff George Casey was submitted to SCOTUS. "Strict adherence to this principle -- that military personnel...at the direction of the President...may not engage in domestic law enforcement."

Voice of the People! RandyParmec "The cruel scenes we see each day on TV of dark-skinned people being zip-tied, dragged to an immigration compound and then disappeared are changing attitudes about immigrants...A record high of 79% ...now consider immigration a good thing for the country".

Voice of the People! John Bronfman is grandfather of a boy in the Rayito de Sol school where a teacher was seized by ICE/BP. He called the act an abuse of civil liberty and an unconstitutional unreasonable search and seizure.

Voice of the People! John Bronfman writes about his grandson's Spanish emersion pre-school, where federal immigration agents entered without a warrant and dragged a teacher away before horrified staff, parents, and crying children. He calls it lawless thuggery.

Many US states have started to give out SNAP funds, since the USDA initially said the emergency funds COngress set aside could fund SNAP during the shutdown. But now USDA is demanding they stop. Many people rely on these funds for their daily food. What is Trump and his administrators thinking?
November 11, 2025 at 3:07 AM
Americans are worried about finances, yet Trump put on a Gatsby party, is cutting taxes further for the very rich, and putting up a golden ballroom. And now he's stiffing the poor, the disabled, the elderly, and children of their food stamps. He doesn't seem to have the public interest at heart.
November 11, 2025 at 3:03 AM
USDA first said that the two funds set aside by Congress for emergencies to pay SNAP and other nutrition programs could be provided during the shutdown but now the administration says it could not be provided in full and not right away. Suspicious contradictions.

Given most Americans' uncertaincies about the economy and their livelihoods, in contrast to the confidence of the very rich, the Trump administration's recent move to give new tax breaks to the richest companies and investors isbeing kept very quiet. Not going to be widely popular.

The ABC/Washington Post/Ipsos poll shows the destruction of the White House East Wing is opposed by 56% of Americans and only 28% approve. So perhaps that defiant act was yet another recent Trump effort that seems very likely to push him further down in the polls.

Thank goodness, trolls seem very rare on Bluesky.
November 10, 2025 at 3:25 AM
Well, even on Twitter/X people of good will still greatly outnumber trolls. I'll get 20 or 30 follows, likes or retweets for every 2 or 3 trolls these days. But I think DHS has scraped up trolls to follow those critiquing DHS. I had virtually none til Chicago Midway Blitz.

This bill doesn’t address the core issue that millions of Americans will no longer be able to afford ACA insurance coverage next year. I’m willing to work with anyone to create a path forward but this isn’t it.

Sanders: Let’s be clear… If this vote succeeds, over 20 million Americans are going to see at least a doubling in their premiums… if resolution is passed tonight, we are on a path way to throw 15 million Americans off of medicaid and the affordable care act, 15 million.

Thank you New Jersey for picking this leader and allowing her to send a very clear message about what "real Americans" (TM) want.
This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.
