ACRE Institute took part in the annual JA Inspire 3-day event held at the Agricenter! We had a hands-on activity called "Soil Showdown: The Battle for Healthy Earth." Here, more than 3,000 8th graders learned about good and bad farming practices and tried to achieve the healthiest soil possible.

Throughout the winter, Dr. Boardman has been measuring the freezing temperature of eggs of the spotted lanternfly in Nashville, TN. This ACRE funded project, will identify whether winter temperatures in Tennessee are cold enough to limit the southern spread of this invasive insect. acre.institute

At Kemmons Wilson Culinary Institute, at the University of Memphis, they are growing an assortment of herbs and lettuces in the hydroponics lab. Some have been used in HPRM 2012 Introduction to Culinary class. Yum!#universityofmemphis#plants#herbs#vegetables

We had another successful day of training volunteers at the University of Memphis- Herbarium (MEM). Training was led by Danny Frimpong, a Masters student at the Mandel Lab. Volunteers were trained on pressing and mounting specimen. If you are interested in participating, reach out to us!
