I’ll echo what many others have said here: if you can, please please please donate to your local food bank. We’ve all seen the headlines. Things are about to get brutal…real bad for a lot of people. Yes in your community. Please save “They voted for this” for later.
Easy take but this guy is 100% running for president. If not 2028, the next cycle.

Not happy or surprised that I’m hearing chatter about “flying universities,” or at least, university courses, in 2026 United States. That these are deemed necessary is yet another worrying sign of authoritarianism.

There’s this thing about rich famous people. This thing is, they will almost always surprise, disappoint, and disgust you.

I recall reading, more than once, that we’ll be lucky to get Orban on the present trajectory. So here we are.
Steve Levitsky, the co-author of How Democracies Die, on the dangerous place we have reached as Trump escalates:

“Orbán doesn’t arrest journalists,” he said. “And in Hungary if you walk the streets of Budapest or other Hungarian cities, you will not find heavily armed masked men abducting people."

Arresting journalists for doing their job is right out of the authoritarian playbook. It cannot be spun any other way.

Bruce Springsteen and Billy Bragg releasing songs about Minnesota kind of feels like a big deal in some sort of way.

I don’t say this sarcastically but it’s going to be interesting to see how Susan Collins reacts to her state in the crosshairs. First large scale ICE assault on a state with a GOP senator.

Also curious how this will affect the very hotly contested Senate race there.
ICE is changing tactics in Maine: "Now, the volunteers in Maine say federal agents have started showing up at their homes and intimidating them or threatening arrest. Some of them, masked and wearing tactical gear, have issued stark warnings not to follow them." www.pressherald.com/2026/01/23/i...

Shades of the early days of Covid; all the “wellness,” “thriving,” “mindfulness,” and “resiliency” garbage that went out from bosses.
Hey Minnesotans. Have your bosses sent you a mealy-mouthed email about how to remain productive during these troubled times or some other example of non-committal, faux-concerned corporate-speak? We want to publish a bunch of these. Send examples to keith at racketmn.com. You will NOT be identified.

Imagine looking at this map as a reasonable thoughtful person and drawing the same conclusions William Wolfe did.

This is his religion version of that “look at all that red land!” election weirdness some people love.
This is why William Wolfe—a vocal admirer of Christian Nationalist kingpin Doug Wilson—wants to influence the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). It’s also why I’m so concerned about his organization and its ties to Peter Thiel ally Chris Buskirk (via American Reformer).
