The ACLU of Missouri dares to create a more perfect union — beyond one person, party, or side.
Just in: We filed a lawsuit on behalf of Missouri voters against the State for violating Missourians’ right to referendum by enacting the HB1 congressional maps before voters have the opportunity to approve or reject the measure as provided by the state constitution.

Breaking: The Missouri Supreme Court declined to take up the state's appeal to reinstate Missouri's ban on abortion and several restrictions that prevented access to care. This means that abortion care will remain available in Missouri.

The court rewrote the ballot language for the anti-abortion Amendment 3, including the summary statement that voters will see on the ballot and the fair ballot language which informs voters of what a yes and no vote will mean.
December 4, 2025 at 7:20 PM
Just in: Court finds both the legislature's and the Secretary of State's summary statement and fair ballot language insufficient; orders new language. More to come.
Breaking: We are in Court fighting to to ensure fair and accurate ballot language on the misleading, anti-abortion Amendment 3, which would end the right to reproductive freedom in Missouri. Missourians are required to have fair and accurate ballot language when asked to change the constitution.

The Governor-installed Attorney General's desperation is showing; she is terrified that Missourians will reject Washington DC's attempt to gerrymander our state.

"The court saw SB775 for what it is, an unconstitutional censorship law that used the threat of fines & imprisonment to eliminate the guidance of professional librarians & parents and instead gave control over what our students read to politicians in Jefferson City,”

Columbia's B265-25 targets people experiencing houselessness by criminalizing people in public spaces and threatening 1A rights. It could apply to peaceful protests, fundraising efforts, or distribution of direct services and goods. Tell your Council Member: these are not our values. NO on B265-25.

"The new map faces a series of court challenges from orgs such as the ACLU of Missouri and the Missouri chapter of the NAACP. At the same time, a group called People Not Politicians launched a signature-gathering campaign to try to force a statewide vote that would strike down the map."

Remind a friend, abortion access is available in Missouri.

After the Right to Reproductive Freedom Initiative passed last November, Missourians gained access to care. First, hospital-based providers began to provide care without the threat of prosecution.

“The unanimous decision is a critical affirmation that patients can continue to access procedural abortions in Missouri. The court rejected this attempt by the Attorney General, and is continuing to allow Missourians to exercise their constitutional right to access abortion care where they live."

Missouri has executed Lance Shockley.

Abolish the death penalty.
October 14, 2025 at 11:47 PM
Abolish the death penalty. The death penalty violates the constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishment, and is discriminatory, arbitrary, and prone to error in enforcement.

Happening now: We are in court fighting the state’s unconstitutional book ban — passed as SB775 —that led to the immediate removal of hundreds of books from school libraries. We will always stand to protect student’s First Amendment right to access information.

Today in the Missouri Supreme Court,  we joined our friends @lambdaLegal to fight a discriminatory ban that prevents Trans Youth from accessing care only because of their transgender status.

Abortion care remains available in Missouri

We stood with Planned Parenthood to defend abortion access from the Gov's handpicked Attorney General. The AG continued her predecessor's efforts to overturn the will of the people.

We asked the court to block the ban on medication abortion care.

Breaking: With our friends at PPGreatPlains and @ppgreatrivers.bsky.social, we are defending the voter-approved constitutional amendment in two separate courts against the unelected Attorney General's attempt to reinstate the total abortion ban while we demand access to medication abortion care.
