At my ACCS school, we debated "Should Beowulf have fought the dragon?" in eighth grade. I was one of two students arguing no. I argued that Beowulf's death, because he was the king, doomed his people. A great hero does not inherently mean a wise leader. Current events explain why I lost that debate.
