Our next Outdoor Classroom public tour day is Saturday, April 5, from 12-3pm. The weather looks like it will be warm and rainy; unless there are dangerous thunderstorms, we plan to be open for visitors! Come by and say hello to the birds (and the humans).

Recently we admitted this Eastern screech-owl that had been hit by a vehicle, suffering two bone fractures in the same leg. We are hopeful that the owl will make a full recovery after the bones are repaired surgically. 🦉

American kestrels Killy & Ohio spent the last few days inside due to the weather, but they’ve been out for walks around the grounds.

American kestrels can be found in West Virginia all year, so they don’t *need* to come inside during the cold, but it gives their human caretakers some peace of mind!

We had a great time at the WV Botanic Garden for the “Owls of the Garden” event. After a presentation w/ Randolph the Eastern screech-owl, participants walked in the garden to look & listen for owls. We heard & saw a screech-owl, & heard a barred owl & a great horned owl.🦉❄️
