Murió Vargas Llosa.
Problemático (por ponerlo “lightly”) pero sin duda una gran parte de mi formación como lectora y después literata. Lo leía con mucho anhelo de joven, después muy crítica y cuestionante. Pero lo leía.

Last minute addition to my teaching load for next semester: an asynchronous/online Latin American film class. What are some cool assignments I can do that do not require discussion posts?!?!?

I’m ignoring the news today. I just want a day of not feeling like every inch of my existence is being threatened. I’ll come back to that tomorrow, today we just live.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights.

You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one.

LA has been my home for 25+ years. Whenever anyone said that people in LA were rude or selfish, I knew they weren’t from here. See the community that is out helping? The volunteer slots that get filled in mins? The overwhelming donations & support? That’s LA 💙
