Dragons, even in fruit form, rarely cross our threshold. This dragon fruit is weirdly lovely. Almost tasteless, I thought, but the fruit-flesh drips with succulence. In tropical temperatures, it would be paradisal. It's also extremely filling. Dragon fruit for breakfast?!!

Story of a Sock! Having leapt from the washing line, it was found days later snuggling up to a primrose. Touching, but as one of my best socks, it won't be insulation till it's old. Is it poetry-phobic? Now too wet to be packed for Poetry in Aldeburgh! But I look forward to being there on Thursday!

In 1 photo you see the Iron Age ramparts (which, archaeology suggests, were almost immediately, & successfully, attacked). In another, the pale limestone crest of the hillsides has newly planted trees, I think, part of the vast re-working of the A417! Very best wishes from our changeful landscape!
