This is my personal account. I want to learn everything possible about spinal cord injury, daily life after injury for the injured person and family, and the future of technology and treatments.
Excellent 60 Minutes piece on one of the most promising advancement in spinal cord injury — the Swiss trial led by the Gregoire Courtine and Jocelyne Bloch. Truly sci-fi stuff. Remember: for 5000 years the medical axios was that spinal cord injury “cannot be treated.” www.cbsnews.com/news/injurie...
Injuries left them paralyzed. An early promising clinical trial is helping them walk short distances again.
An Ironman athlete, told she'd never walk again after an accident more than six years ago, is now part of an early clinical trial, in which skull and spine implants help patients move paralyzed limbs.

I’m never going to use a social media platform as I once used twitter. The habit broke.

But I want to use this platform for a more personal & critical goal.

It’s hard to talk about.

A few months ago my brother in law, who is one of my best friends, suffered a catastrophic spinal cord injury.

Eagles fans born in early 80s waited 2 decades only to see their team *lose* a Super Bowl.

Philly tweens now saw the Lombardi on Broad, and will see the Birds in a 3rd SB this Sunday.

@zoegberg.bsky.social and I wrote the official Kids These Days (Eagles’ version). www.inquirer.com/eagles/super...
Young Eagles fans are used to winning. Veteran fans wonder if they’ve suffered enough.
Ahead of a third Super Bowl in 7 years, the kids are asking when it’s time to go to Broad Street again.

I’m going to start using this platform occasionally to share my work as a civil courts reporter.

To start, I wrote about a horrendous tragedy that raises the question: are social media companies comparable to a phone — or a cigarette?

An Abington college student died after being extorted on Instagram and Snapchat. His family blames the social platforms.
A lawsuit filed by Jack Sullivan’s parents says the social media companies facilitated the crime through their platforms and failed to remove predatory accounts.
