Currently moving house across the country for a new job after some soul searching and knitting helping to keep me sane (have already given up on King & Conqueror). Porcelain sweater in progress.

It's been a very difficult 12 months, but after a long weekend away (and a stop to visit Robert Curthose on the way), optimism has *finally* returned! Just in time for a weekend of chapter editing and evening knitting while husband is away for the cricket.

Over the weekend I married the Welshman I sat next to at a medieval history conference back in 2019. Couldn't be happier!

A very lovely email landed in my email inbox today. I have been shortlisted for 'Supervisor of the Year' at the student-led teaching awards taking place at my University in May. I always look forward to supervision meetings, and it's encouraging that my supervisees seem to enjoy them too.

Surprise of the day, after being away from home for the work week my partner secretly travelled to Aber to pick me up, and brought the dog along too! Beautifully vibrant rainbow on the way home. Always brings a feeling of hope.

Teaching today was an entire day of getting first years excited about medieval chronicles. Excellent discussions and some students told me how much they enjoyed reading extracts from the Anglo-Norman chroniclers. Mission accomplished. Bonus points for talking about Orderic Vitalis' on his birthday!

Made the return to social media after seeing how much more pleasant it is on here. Since my last appearance online I have taken up knitting, and now have a poodle shaped hot water bottle/companion/reading buddy.
