I feel like not enough baseball people are ignoring the "avoid Substack because of the Nazi associations" stuff and are starting up Substacks.

Milwaukee needs an infielder after this morning's trade with Boston and has lefty-hitting outfielders (Mitchell, Bauers, Black) they can move. A trade with Houston for Isaac Paredes has to happen, right?

I don't understand agreeing to give Framber Valdez $38.3M/year while being upset at Tarik Skubal for asking for $32M.

Remember when Super Bowl commercials used to be new during the game and not ruined by a "preview" on The Today Show the week before?

10-second videos of guys throwing bullpens before spring training have started to appear. It's a happy day.

Took the boy to Monster Jam today. He enjoyed himself, which is all I cared about.

Two of the eight trucks were being driven by women, which I found pretty cool and wasn't expecting (including the famed Grave Digger).

I'm not sure what's worse:

- Continuing to insist Byron Buxton is a "top trade candidate".
- Using useless data (like Baseball Trade Values) to propose trades for Buxton.
- Aggregating those proposals as if they're realistic/possible.

It's probably a little of 2 and 3, honestly.

Am I the only one that thinks an Isaac Paredes for Mickey Moniak trade makes sense? Houston gets a lefty outfielder. Colorado gets a bat that can work into the 1B/DH mix. Paredes' gap power taking advantage of the Coors Field outfield? @kgh23.bsky.social

New followers keep coming in bunches (which is awesome), but this feels like a good time to mention I write a free baseball newsletter a few times a week.

Aside from Goose Gossage, Larry Doby, and Andruw Jones, are there any other HOFers who played in the NPB/KBO during or at the end of their MLB careers? I'm not counting Ichiro, who started his career in Japan.

Mets rotation options (pre-trade):
Nolan McLean
Clay Holmes
David Peterson
Sean Manaea
Kodai Senga
Christian Scott
Brandon Sproat
Jonah Tong

I'm not sure I saw this as "in dire need of rotation help."

Now you can swap in Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers for Sproat.

I get the whole “the Yanks needed to do this” argument, but Cashman is going to regret giving Bellinger this contract (unless he’s fantastic for two years and opts out; AND whatever they trade Dominguez or Jones for pans out).

Level 44 begins.

Started it by oversleeping and then I can’t find my usual Scott Pilgrim GIF, so, you know, we’re right on track.

I don't have an official vote for the MLB Hall of Fame. Still, I have some thoughts on who I would vote for if I were to.

Mets have infielders to trade. Braves need a shortstop. You know you want to see Luisangel and Ronald in the same lineup.
January 18, 2026 at 9:14 PM
There is more to this CIN/TB/LAA trade, right? Also, wouldn't Lux have made more sense for the Angels than Lowe?
January 16, 2026 at 4:07 AM
Umm, if Kyle Tucker is worth $60M a year then I don't see how anyone can argue Tarik Skubal shouldn't get $32M.
January 16, 2026 at 3:14 AM
Tucker to Toronto.
The Mets step in and steal Bellinger.
Yanks respond by adding Bichette, then trade McMahon to the Angels.
Framber to Baltimore.
Someone (finally) signs Rich Hill to keep his career alive.

Chaos? Let's do it.

Got an idea stuck in my head today. 1600 words later and Part 1 (of 3; the smallest of the trio) is done.
