Writing from life sometimes feels like building a monument to the worst thing that ever happened to somebody.
I used to think that writing involved waiting for a good idea to shine down on you like a light from heaven, and then shitting out a story fully formed, like a golden egg. Really, it's like making clay. I write to find out what I want to write about. Which is way more fun. I love playing in the mud.
