One of my theories re tariffs may have played out today. Put tariffs in place (or threaten to) and crash the market. Rich people go in and buy cheap stocks, and keep loading up. Crazy tariffs are put on hold and the stock market goes up wildly. The rich get richer. He might keep repeating the cycle.

It seems to me that the big problem isn't that these top-level folks were using an insecure chat line to talk about war plans and included a journalist. That's bad enough. BUT - isn't the biggest issue that they were using an insecure chat that disappears? shouldn't sensitive war plans be archived?

I was wondering if we are going to be required to go back to 'gender marking' in professions? 'Steward and stewardess' instead of 'flight attendant'? 'Fireman' instead of 'firefighter'. 'Waiter and waitress' rather than 'server'? 'Policeman and policewoman' instead of 'police officer'? And so forth.

As we've begun to deal with the election loss and the Drump reality, the call has been 'Work for the mid-terms! We'll take back the House!'. Yet as these shocking days pass I'm realizing that with Muskrat's boys running the government computers, there's NO WAY the votes won't be tampered with.

Am I alone in thinking that we're witnessing a silent coup? No overtaking the ramparts or machine-gunning into the seats of power and prestige as has happened elsewhere and in other times. Rather, this is a takeover from within....and it seems it's successful.

I'm proud of my Illinois senators: Durbin and Duckworth. And Illinois governor Pritzker. All of them are strong and confident, stand up for what's right, and speak truth to power.

I feel a bit like I'm defiling Jimmy Carter who such a good man, but watching his farewell today it makes me feel a bit sick to imagine that the Orange Clown could get a similar honor.
